Serving the residents of Burcott, Coxley, Dinder, Dulcote, East Horrington, Easton, Haybridge, Launcherley, Maesbury, Polsham, South Horrington, Southway, West Horrington, Woodford, Wookey Hole and Worminster.

PLAYGROUNDS

The Town Council is responsible for 4 play areas within the parish.

Coxley Play Area

The play area at Coxley

Coxley play area is secured and separated from the larger recreation field by a low metal fence. There is a range of play equipment, benches a picnic table and plenty of shade from established trees.

Play equipment includes a see-saw, spinning bowl, climbing wall. climbing net, slide, balance beams, a Twister and swings.

Both trees and play equipment are independently inspected annually; play equipment is also inspected monthly by the council's play area maintenance contractors.

Dinder Dragons Den

Dinder 'Dragons Den'

Dinder Dragons Den is named after the legend of the Dinder Dragon and sits in a fenced and elevated corner of the field also used as a cricket ground. It was built in 2013 with financial help from Viridor & Swan of Wells.

There is a combination of play equipment for various ages: a bridge and tunnel, slide, rope bucket swing, picnic tables and benches, balance walks, aerial runway, hand sign timer, climbing poles and wood and chain swing.

Dulcote Recreation Ground

The area slopes gently up, is bordered by well established trees and has play equipment at the bottom, another fenced area above for a small BMZ course.

Dulcote Recreation Ground is managed by the Dulcote Board of Trustees.

Dulcote Recreation Ground is accessed from Durston Road or by gate on the lane leading to Hill House Cottage. It is surrounded by established trees, has picnic tables and benches and has 3 separate sections for different activities.

There are combinations of equipment for various ages: a grip board, a twister, bounce seat, bucket seat swings, see-saw, Tfor2 swings, and BMX / biking obstacles.

The Recreation Ground is administered by a Board of Trustees and all Parish Councillors sit on this board.

Easton Jubilee Playing Field

A wide open space, bordered by hedges with metal play equipment to the foreground and an open space for ball sports etc.

Easton Jubilee Playing Field, Knowle Lane.

Easton Jubilee Playing Field is at the south end of the village on Knowle Lane and currently consists of three parts - an open area and goal frame for ball sports, a newly planted woodland area with very young trees and an area of play equipment for a variety of ages.

The Woodland Planting Project is being coordinated by the Easton Wildlife Group and ground was struck in October 2020.

There is a range of play equipment, including slide, rubber bucket, climb-in swings, rodeo board, multi-gym unit and a rotating suspension pole.

Dogs and Play areas

Dogs are not allowed in parish play areas or on play equipment. They pose a hygienic threat to children, even if you feel your dog is the cleanest in the world.
