Planning

Mendip District Council is the local Planning Authority and they have full powers when considering planning applications.

St Cuthbert (Out) Parish Council are statutory consultees and as such it is consulted on all applications falling within the town boundary. These are considered at the Planning Meetings which are usually held every three weeks. This committee inspects all sites and scrutinises the plans for every application. Its comments are then passed to Mendip District Council for their deliberations. They may take them on board or disregard as they see fit. Members of the public are encouraged to attend our Planning Meetings -be they physical or remote meetings - and the Chairman will arrange for speaker time.

For residents, you must be aware of the Conservation Area as this imposes further restrictions should your property be located within it. Trees with TPOs (Tree Preservation Orders) require any resident to check with MDC before you carry out any work on a tree within the parish.

A guide for residents on Getting Involved with the Planning Process is available, showing how to register, search and comment on the Mendip Planning portal.
