OUTDOOR
There are a number of clubs offering outdoor sporting opportunities, some based in the parish and others in the City Of Wells. These include:
Football
The largest football club based in or around Wells is Wells City Football Club who cater for a huge age range, from 'Quick Feet' to Veterans teams.
The 1st XI currently play in the Toolstation Western League Division 1.
Cricket
There are 3 cricket clubs in the parish:
- Horrington Cricket Club, Chilcote Lane, East Horrington.
- Wookey Hole Cricket Club
- Wells Cricket Club, School Lane, South Horrington.
Bowls

Tennis
Tennis facilities are available at South Horrington and The Blue School, Wells.
There is an active tennis club in Wells catering for a wide range and ability.
There are also summer camps for children run at The Blue School and Wells Cathedral School.
Hockey
There are two clubs based in Wells : Mid Somerset HC & Wells City Acorns Ladies HC (Website pending).
Both train at The Blue School astroturf, Kennion Road - about half a mile from Waitrose.
Rugby
Wells RFC is based in the city with their base currently at Charter Way, off Portway - approximately 1 mile from the city Centre.
They cater for all ages from Under 6 to seniors and are an accredited RFU Club.
Walking Groups
There are several walking groups:-

Diving
The nearest sub-aqua club meets in Street, 8 miles away. It is an active club and welcomes new members
Caving
The Mendip Hills offer extraordinary opportunities for caving with the Wessex Cave Club and the Mendip Caving Group.

INDOOR
Gyms & Leisure Centres
As you may expect, the local leisure centres and gyms offer a great variety of classes, 1 to 1 sessions, training plans and team sports.
Wells Sport & Fitness: Leisure Centre, Charter Way just off Portway.
Wells Blue Sports Centre: Kennion Road, off Wookey Hole Road.
Kingdom Gym: Keward Mill Trading estate, just off Glastonbury Road.

Swimming
Wells Sport and Fitness Centre have a busy swimming pool that runs Swim School, family and adult swimming lanes and pool-based lessons.
