Woodlands
There are woodlands in all four wards of the parish, one designated an ancient woodland, some within the Mendip AONB and others part of ancient church or private estates. These woods nestle across a range of topography and distinctive landscape features:
In the East Ward, Beryl Wood, Biddlecombe, Middleway Wood, Nettlecombe, Spring Wood and King Castle Wood.
The South Ward has Dinder Wood, Sharcombe Park, Park, Newclose, Smallford and TwinHill Wood.
West Ward has Park Wood, Hay Hill (not a wood!), Ben Knowle Wood and the begininning of the distinctive Somerset Levels landscape.
North Ward has Underwood, Walcombe Wood, Pen Hill Wood, Vigo Wood & Dursdon Wood, Ebbor Wood.
Easton Woodland Planting Project
Great things have been happening at Easton, courtesy of the Easton Wildlife Group! Some 300 saplings have been planted in November 2020 with many volunteers involved.
Please hop along to the Easton village page to see more, and congratulations to all involved! Trees were provided by the Woodland Trust.
